Since 1923
Located in West Hartford, Connecticut, UTD has proudly served the Aerospace & Defense industry since 1923. Originally founded as United Tool & Die Co., a precision tool and die shop, UTD has evolved over the past century into a trusted manufacturer of complex aircraft components and assemblies.

For more than 60 years, we’ve specialized in sheet metal fabrication and tube bending, delivering precision parts that meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. Our diverse product portfolio and robust in-house capabilities allow us to take on intricate and demanding projects—from bracket assemblies to airline ducts and heat sinks.

UTD is NADCAP accredited for three critical special processes: heat treating, nonconventional machining, and welding. With a legacy of craftsmanship and innovation, we continue to support the evolving needs of our customers across the aerospace and defense sectors.

NADCAP Heat Treating

UTD is NADCAP accredited for heat treating, specializing in aluminum heat treating and aluminum dip brazing. This industry-recognized approval reflects our strict adherence to aerospace quality standards and process controls. With decades of experience, our team delivers reliable, high-performance thermal processing solutions for complex aluminum components and assemblies.

NADCAP Welding
Expires: August 31st, 2025
UTD is NADCAP accredited for welding, with specialized expertise in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) of aluminum, Inconel, and stainless steel. Our certified welders and tightly controlled processes ensure precision, consistency, and structural integrity across a wide range of aerospace components. Whether it’s thin-gauge aluminum or high-performance alloys, UTD delivers weld quality that meets the industry's most rigorous standards.

NADCAP Nonconventional Machining

UTD is NADCAP accredited for nonconventional machining, with a core focus on precision laser cutting. Our advanced laser cutting capabilities allow us to produce intricate profiles and tight-tolerance features in a wide range of aerospace materials. This process ensures clean, accurate cuts with minimal distortion—ideal for high-performance, mission-critical components.
